Barnabas Collins wakes in the family crypt after centuries and starts hunting again. Dr. Julia Hoffman (Grayson Hall) offers him a cure for vampirism, and Barnabas accepts: he's found Maggie, who looks exactly like the fiancée he lost long ago. Jonathan Frid plays the vampire with a quiet, worn-out melancholy the TV show only hinted at, and Curtis doesn't cut away from the violence.
