Synopsis
Tom Segura: Mostly Stories (2016) is a solo stand-up special you can watch online on iFILM. For just over an hour, the bearded American comic spins tales from his own life and stretches everyday nonsense to its breaking point.
The set runs through body piercings, the patch of the male anatomy he dubs the "Area 51," what actually keeps a marriage together, some squirmy talk about racism, and the centerpiece — the lie he once told Mike Tyson to his face. Segura's delivery is deliberately laid-back, no shouting or mugging; he sounds like he's just chatting with the room, which somehow makes the punchlines land harder.
It's shot plainly on stage, no flashy editing, riding entirely on the writing and the timing. This one's for fans of conversational, long-story stand-up in the early Louis C.K. mold rather than rapid-fire one-liners. Seventy-three minutes for a night when you just want to laugh.
