Synopsis
Incubus (1982) is a Canadian horror film by John Hough, available to watch online on iFILM. In a quiet Wisconsin town, a teenage boy keeps dreaming of women being savagely killed — and each morning the murders turn out to be real.
Town doctor Sam Cordell spots a pattern the coroner can't explain: every victim shows the same impossible injuries, the kind no ordinary man could inflict. With the local sheriff he traces the killings back to an old regional legend and a cult that has fed a demon for generations. John Cassavetes, as the doctor, keeps the whole thing grounded even as the plot slides headlong into the supernatural.
Hough had already made The Legend of Hell House and Disney's Escape to Witch Mountain; here he works rougher and meaner, squarely in early-'80s video-nasty territory. The script adapts Ray Russell's novel. This one is for genre diehards — heavier on dread than on actual scares, with a closing twist that left plenty of viewers baffled.
