Synopsis
La Révolution (2020), Season 1 is a French fantasy-horror you can watch online on iFILM — eight episodes from Netflix that rewrite the year 1787. What if the uprising began not with ideas, but with an infection?
A young doctor, Joseph Guillotin — yes, namesake of the device to come — investigates a string of grisly murders and stumbles onto a sickness called the Blue Blood. Stricken nobles shed whatever made them human and start hunting commoners for sport. Alongside him runs the story of Élise de Montargis and her little sister Madeleine, whose nightmares turn out to be more than dreams, and a secret Brotherhood readying a revolt. The deeper it goes, the plainer it gets: the aristocracy has hidden for generations what the poor pay for its immortality.
Creator Aurélien Molas shoots it dark and bloody, closer to gothic horror than costume drama. It's alternate history where class rage gets a literal monster. The finale leaves a door open, though no second season ever followed. Stream La Révolution Season 1 online on iFILM.
