Synopsis
Survivor (2001), Season 2 — The Australian Outback, 17 episodes you can watch online on iFILM. Sixteen players are flown into the Queensland bush this time, trading the island for drought, brutal heat and rivers that flood overnight.
Two tribes, Kucha and Ogakor, trek to camp and start trading Immunity wins and lost players at Tribal Council. Days before the merge an accident at the campfire stops the game cold and reminds everyone the survival part is literal. Once the survivors fold into a single tribe, Barramundi, the contest gets quieter and meaner — hunger, exhaustion, arithmetic. On day 38 the final four catch their reflection in a mirror for the first time and barely recognize themselves. Then it is down to three, a jury of the voted-out, and the same million dollars.
Premiering right after the Super Bowl, this season drew the biggest audience the show would ever pull. The Outback gave the format the scale the cramped first island never had: more room, harsher conditions, sharper personalities, with Jeff Probst again calling the shots.
