Joe Hackett runs tiny Sandpiper Air; his brother Brian breezes back into his life and immediately complicates it. The first six episodes run on sibling rivalry and small-town absurdity: a rumored suitcase of cash left by their dead father, Brian chasing his ex-wife Carol to Boston with Joe in tow, and Joe catching his brother on a date with Helen. Her role is still small here, but the last episode plants exactly what the show will spend years building on.
Season 1 is brief by any standard — six episodes is a test run, and the series is clearly still finding its footing. Tony Shalhoub appears early as taxi driver Antonio and is immediately the best thing in any scene he enters. Stream Wings Season 1 online on iFILM.
