Synopsis

The whole season follows the adoption process as a kind of obstacle course — social services interviews, mandatory training sessions, a picnic with other prospective parents who seem impossibly well-prepared, and finally the adoption panel. Along the way the relationship takes pressure: Jason gets cold feet after a training day; Nikki finds a suspicious text on his phone; a family dinner collapses at the wrong moment. The show earns its emotional beats rather than just placing them.
