Synopsis
Sound! Euphonium (2015), Season 1 is a school-band drama anime you can watch online on iFILM — thirteen episodes following the Kitauji High concert band, a club that long ago stopped dreaming about competitions.
Kumiko Oumae joins almost out of habit, having played since middle school. Alongside Sapphire on bass and Hazuki, who picks up the tuba, she lands in an ensemble full of old grudges where half the members can't be bothered. New conductor Taki-sensei changes that overnight: auditions, a competition lineup, a demand to actually mean it. Prep for the Sunrise Festival, a bitter row over whether Reina was picked as a favorite, a grueling audition pitting first-years against seniors — all building toward the twelve minutes on the contest stage the kids have wagered their whole adolescence on.
Kyoto Animation isn't really filming music here; it's filming growing up — envy, ambition, and the awkward pull between Kumiko and the fiercely driven Reina. The animation of the instruments and rehearsals is reason enough on its own. One for viewers who love quiet stories about a loose group hardening into a team. Stream Sound! Euphonium Season 1 online on iFILM.
