Lance still hasn't recovered from his ex-wife leaving, though something unexpected might change that. The Danebury Metal Detecting Club gains a mysterious new face and a polite request from the local mayor — his chain of office has gone missing somewhere in the fields. The search broadens to include a buried wartime bomber, and more than one member is about to make a decision nobody saw coming. Season 2 is quieter than the first and stronger for it. Andy's been thinking about internet dating. Not for him, but for his friend Lance who's still not over the departure of his ex-wife. A mysterious stranger arrives to tempt the Danebury Metal Detecting Club in more ways than one.

Andy spots something suspicious and Sophie's cracking on with her new friend at the library. The club is visited by the local mayor on a matter of some delicacy, and some old enemies seem unusually interested in Peter's quest to find his grandfather.

Russell and Hugh embark on their mission to recover the mayor's chain of office from the car park in Barnfather Woods, while Sophie proves she's still very bad at spying. Both Becky and Lance have something important to tell Andy.
