Synopsis
Little Tickles (Les Chatouilles, 2018) is a French drama you can watch online on iFILM. Directors Andréa Bescond and Eric Métayer adapted Bescond's acclaimed autobiographical stage show into a film that confronts childhood sexual abuse and the decades it takes to process it. Karin Viard and Clovis Cornillac play the oblivious parents.
Eight-year-old Odette loves to dance and draw. A family friend convinces her that "tickling" is just a game between them. The film cuts between that childhood and an adult Odette who has built a career as a dancer while quietly carrying everything that happened. Neither timeline is played for pity; the childhood scenes are shot with a disturbing matter-of-factness, and the adult ones with a precision that refuses easy resolution.
Bescond uses dance not as a metaphor but as a literal survival mechanism — the body remembering what the mind is still fighting to articulate. It's a harder film than its gentle title suggests, and a more necessary one. Stream Little Tickles (2018) online on iFILM.
