The Demon

The Demon (Il demonio, 1964) — watch online on iFILM. Brunello Rondi's Italian horror drama stars Daliah Lavi as Purificazione, a young woman in a deeply Catholic southern Italian village whose love curdles into an accusation against her.

She wants a man who wants nothing to do with her. She tries the old remedies — folk curses, rituals passed down outside the church walls, things the village pretends not to know about. What the village does know is that she's acting strangely. That's enough. They don't call it rejection. They call it possession. What follows is less about the supernatural than about what a closed community does when it decides one of its own has crossed a line.
