Season 1
Synopsis
Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 (2020), Season 1 is Netflix's cyberpunk anime you can watch online on iFILM — twelve episodes that reboot the Stand Alone Complex world in full 3DCG.
The year is 2045. A Sustainable War keeps the planet locked in low-grade conflict after the Synchronized Global Default wiped out the old economy. Scattered Section 9 veterans now sell their skills as the mercenary crew GHOST, working the scorched American west, while Togusa chases their trail on a quiet errand from Japan. Then something the cyborgs cannot match shows up: the post-human, a mind that outclasses any prosthetic body. The hunt pulls the team off the desert and back to Tokyo, and the deeper they dig, the younger the suspects get — all the way down to schoolkids.
Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki split directing duties, so the slick new render still carries the franchise's old arguments about free will and the net. Who it's for: returning Stand Alone Complex fans willing to trade hand-drawn frames for those same dense conversations. Stream Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 Season 1 online on iFILM.
