Synopsis
The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya (涼宮ハルヒの消失, 2010) is a Japanese animated feature you can watch online on iFILM. Directed by Yasuhiro Takemoto and Tatsuya Ishihara for Kyoto Animation, the film runs 162 minutes and picks up the story of the SOS Brigade a week before Christmas. Tomokazu Sugita and Aya Hirano return as the central voices.
Kyon wakes up to find the world quietly rewritten. The SOS Brigade never formed. Mikuru and Yuki don't know him. Haruhi and Itsuki are simply gone from school as if they never enrolled. The question driving the story is less "what happened" and more "what would Kyon actually choose" — the strange life Haruhi dragged him into, or the ordinary one he always claimed to want.
The film rewards viewers already familiar with the TV series; it is dense and built for them, not for newcomers. What it delivers is an unusually patient and emotionally grounded sci-fi story from a studio at the peak of its craft. Stream The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya online on iFILM.
