Synopsis
Vienna Blood (2019) is a period detective series you can watch online on iFILM, set in imperial Vienna where a killing gets solved on the analyst's couch as much as at the crime scene.
Max Liebermann is a young English doctor studying under Sigmund Freud, and he reads a murder the way Freud reads a dream — through what the culprit won't admit. Detective Oskar Reinhardt trusts evidence and instinct, and at first he can't stand the upstart's theories. Their cases pull them beneath the gilt of Vienna's coffee houses and opera boxes, into anti-Semitism, political rot and the secrets of respectable families. Matthew Beard and Juergen Maurer make the odd-couple friction click.
It's drawn from Frank Tallis's Liebermann novels and shot on location in Vienna as an ORF–BBC co-production, which keeps the turn-of-the-century glamour uneasy rather than postcard-pretty.
