Synopsis
Don't Stop Me Now (Ma cosa ci dice il cervello, 2019) is an Italian comedy directed by Riccardo Milani that you can watch online on iFILM. Paola Cortellesi plays Giovanna — to her colleagues at the ministry, a dull, plainly dressed bureaucrat; in reality, an active undercover operative running dangerous national security missions.
The spy-life-as-double-life setup lets the film use Giovanna's training-honed patience against the petty indignities of modern Italian life: broken apps, rude drivers, pointless queues, tone-deaf bureaucracy. Her daughter Martina assumes mum is just another tired working parent. The comedy comes from that gap — a woman capable of neutralising a threat in seconds, who still has to wait 40 minutes at the DMV.
Cortellesi, who would later direct and star in the award-winning There's Still Tomorrow, carries the whole thing on comic timing alone. The film is at its funniest when Giovanna channels her frustration not into espionage but into small, satisfying acts of civilian justice. Stream Don't Stop Me Now (2019) online on iFILM.
