Season 1
Synopsis
Zombie Land Saga (2018), Season 1 — watch this 12-episode zombie-idol anime comedy online on iFILM. A truck kills high-schooler Sakura on the morning she's chasing her idol dream. Ten years later she wakes up: dead, but standing.
It's an absurd premise, and the season runs with it. Eccentric producer Kotaro resurrects seven girls from different eras and bolts them into an idol group, Franchouchou, to drag his fading Saga Prefecture back to life. What follows is guerrilla gigs with no rehearsal, a rock festival in a thunderstorm, a show in Kashima, and a lot of frantic effort to keep anyone from noticing the performers are corpses. Each girl carries a past life — Saki's biker years, Lily's dad in the audience, and Sakura's own amnesia, which lands hardest near the end.
An original project from studio MAPPA, not an adaptation, so nothing plays out the way you expect. Rare to see horror, musical and stand-up share one frame. Stream all episodes of Zombie Land Saga Season 1 online on iFILM.
