Zombie Land Saga (ゾンビランドサガ, 2018) is a Japanese anime series you can watch online on iFILM. Sakura Minamoto died in a traffic accident in 2008. A decade later she wakes up in a mansion with no memory, surrounded by six other girls from different points in Japanese history — and a manic producer named Kotaro Tatsumi who insists their only purpose is to save the fading Saga Prefecture by performing as an idol group.

The show is not really interested in horror. It is interested in the specific absurdity of undead teenagers trying to learn choreography, survive autograph sessions without falling apart, and figure out who they used to be. MAPPA's animation gives it real energy during the performance sequences, and the comedy lands because the characters are written as actual people first.
