Synopsis

Min-jun, a junior officer at the foreign ministry, grabs the case — partly to climb the ladder, partly because no one else will touch it. He is sent into a city torn apart by Lebanon's civil war carrying a bag of cash and not a shred of official backup. On the ground he picks up a sharp-tongued local cab driver, and the mismatched pair weave between armed factions, crooked middlemen and intelligence services who would rather the hostage never came home.
Ha Jung-woo and Ju Ji-hoon make a funny yet jittery double act, while director Kim Sung-hoon keeps the pulse somewhere between spy thriller and buddy movie. The story springs from a real incident in the late 1980s, and it's the messy, unglamorous texture of the rescue that gives it grip.
