Synopsis
G.B.F. (2014) is an American high-school comedy from director Darren Stein that you can watch online on iFILM. At North Gateway High the social order is brutal, and three of the most popular girls are clawing at each other for the prom-queen crown.
The whole game changes when quiet Tanner gets accidentally outed and becomes the school's first openly gay student. Instead of bullying, he lands an odd prize: this season's hottest accessory, a Gay Best Friend. The three rivals scramble to recruit him, and a kid nobody noticed is suddenly drowning in attention — at the cost of his real friends and his own voice. Michael J. Willett carries the lead, with Megan Mullally and Natasha Lyonne popping up among the grown-ups.
It's a snappy, deliberately candy-colored satire about clique politics and how fast "acceptance" curdles into a trend. Light, talky, and full of teen-movie clichés flipped inside out. A solid pick for anyone who grew up on Mean Girls. Stream G.B.F. (2014) online on iFILM.
