Shottas

Shottas (2002) is a Jamaican-American crime drama directed by Cess Silvera — watch it online on iFILM. Biggs and Wayne grew up on the dangerous streets of Kingston with very few options. The film does not dress that up: the tagline is friendship, loyalty and greed, and director Silvera shoots it all with a rawness that feels closer to a documentary than to a polished crime thriller.

The two friends make their way to the United States and carve out a position in the Jamaican underworld through sheer aggression and stubborn loyalty to each other. Ky-Mani Marley and Spragga Benz carry the film with real conviction; Wyclef Jean turns up in a supporting role. Before it ever reached theaters, Shottas circulated on bootleg tapes through Caribbean and African American communities and built a cult following on the street.
