Synopsis
Capri-Revolution (2018) is an Italian period drama by Mario Martone, available to watch online on iFILM. The year is 1914, and a commune of young Northern European artists lands on the island of Capri.
Lucia (Marianna Fontana) is a near-illiterate local shepherdess who herds goats across the cliffs. She falls under the spell of Seybu, the magnetic leader of the commune, who preaches free bodies, art and a life beyond the rules. At the same time a young doctor, Carlo, pulls her toward science and socialist politics. With Italy about to enter World War I, Lucia is caught between village tradition, the artists' sensual utopia and the rational world of medicine.
Martone closed his trilogy on Italian history with this film, shooting on Capri itself so the island reads as a character — rock, sea, goat tracks, wind. It is slow, physical cinema aimed at viewers who want ideas and mood from a costume drama rather than plot twists. Stream Capri-Revolution (2018) online on iFILM.
