Synopsis
Josée (2020) is a South Korean romance you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Kim Jong-kwan. A lonely college student named Young-seok finds a young woman in a wheelchair stranded on a dark street and wheels her back home — a crumbling house she shares with her elderly grandmother.
She asks to be called Josée, after a character from Françoise Sagan. Books and invented worlds feel safer to her than people. Young-seok (Nam Joo-hyuk) keeps coming back, fixing small things, and falls for her before he understands what is happening. Han Ji-min plays Josée prickly and guarded, never sweetened into a cliché. There is no rescue fantasy here — both of them are terrified of letting the other in.
This is the Korean take on the 2003 Japanese film, itself drawn from Sagan's short story. Slow, quiet, unhurried, it is for viewers who want Asian melodrama without the melodrama screaming at them. Stream Josée (2020) online on iFILM.
