Synopsis

The house carries the memory of a young woman killed in a wartime bombing. Instead of painting, the artist obsessively reconstructs her past — who she was, who she loved, why she never left. Petri, who later took the Academy Award directing prize for Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion, treats the supernatural as a mirror held up to a fracturing mind.
