Synopsis

Kaiji Ito (Tatsuya Fujiwara) spends his days stealing car emblems and going nowhere. A debt collector arrives — a former co-worker vanished years ago, leaving Kaiji responsible for nearly four million yen he does not have. The offer on the table: one night aboard a ship where indebted men play card games for their freedom. The rules are simple. The odds are not.
Fujiwara, known internationally from Battle Royale and Death Note, carries the film on a slow accumulation of panic. Teruyuki Kagawa plays the company enforcer — composed, almost amused — as the cold counterweight. Satō stretches a single night into two hours without filler.
