Synopsis
Chebi: My Fluffy Friend (Cheburashka, 2023) is a family comedy by Dmitry Dyachenko that you can watch online on iFILM. What if Cheburashka were real — not a plush toy but a living big-eared creature from a faraway orange country, blown into a small seaside town?
There he runs into Gennady, a grumpy old gardener who has no use for a restless furry guest. The little animal, though, finds a home, a name and a circle of friends: a boy who can't quite start talking, his mother who makes the best chocolate in the world, and the spoiled granddaughter of a fashionable aunt set on buying him. Sergei Garmash plays Gennady, with Olga Kuzmina, Polina Maksimova and Fyodor Dobronravov around him. This is its own story, far from the old Soviet cartoon — live actors and a CGI hero.
The film became one of the biggest box-office hits in Russian cinema, pulling whole families into theaters. Garmash carries it: his prickly old man thawing beside the floppy-eared creature is the best thing here. Gentle, villain-free fare for watching with kids.
