Synopsis
The Last Warrior (Последний богатырь, 2017) is a Russian fantasy-comedy you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Dmitry Dyachenko and produced with Walt Disney Studios Russia. Ivan, a small-time Moscow con artist played by Viktor Khorinyak, suddenly finds himself in Belogorye — a parallel world where every creature from Russian folklore is real and very much alive.
Baba Yaga (Elena Yakovleva) is a scheming, sharp-tongued presence rather than a storybook prop, Koschei the Deathless (Konstantin Lavronenko) is a genuine menace, and the locals are convinced that this skeptical modern-day fraud artist is the one destined to end the war between light and darkness. Mila Sivatskaya plays Vasilisa, Sergey Burunov takes on the role of the Water Spirit, and the central joke is that Ivan refuses to believe in magic even when it is actively trying to kill him.
