The uneasy alliance between two factions that usually try to kill each other is the film's real engine.

The original Japanese voice cast returns in full: Kensho Ono, Mamoru Miyano, Akira Ishida. The animation holds up on the big-screen format — fight choreography especially. As a standalone entry point into the franchise, Dead Apple barely works; as a feature-length chapter for fans already inside the story, it delivers exactly what it promises.
