Synopsis
My Boyfriend's Back (1993) is an American horror-comedy with a romantic streak that you can watch online on iFILM. Bob Balaban directs. Shy high-schooler Johnny Dingle has pined after Missy McCloud, the prettiest girl in town, for years. The night he finally works up the nerve, a convenience-store robbery gets him killed — and a few days later he claws his way back out of the grave.
True love never dies, the tagline insists, and Johnny proves it the hard way: he's a walking corpse who still wants nothing more than a prom date. Missy, oddly, says yes. So Johnny spends the movie hiding his rotting skin from a panicked town and fighting off a creeping hunger for human flesh, taking advice from Maggie, the neighborhood's self-appointed zombie expert whose tips mostly make things worse.
The reason to dig this one up today is the cast. A young Matthew Fox and Philip Seymour Hoffman turn up early in their careers, alongside Edward Herrmann and Cloris Leachman. The humor is deadpan and gleefully tasteless, mixing gore, romance and teenage embarrassment into one batch.
