Synopsis
The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue (1974) is a Spanish-British-Italian zombie horror by director Jorge Grau — watch online on iFILM. Antique dealer George (Ray Lovelock) and a young woman named Edna (Cristina Galbó) find themselves in the English countryside just as bodies start walking. Inspector McCormick (Arthur Kennedy) has them pegged as the killers.
The actual culprit is a Ministry of Agriculture ultrasonic radiation device designed to wipe out crop insects. Nobody tested it on the dead. It works on those too.
Shot on location in rural England, the film became one of the definitive European Romero-influenced horrors of its decade. Grau's grey, damp countryside unsettles before a single zombie appears — the landscape carries half the dread. Stream The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue (1974) online on iFILM.
