This is the closing chapter of Mani Ratnam's so-called terrorism trilogy, after Roja and Bombay. A. R. Rahman wrote the score, and the song "Chaiyya Chaiyya" was shot on top of a moving train — a sequence people still pull up and rewatch on its own. It also gave Preity Zinta her screen debut.
