Synopsis
"Zatoichi's Revenge" (座頭市二段斬り, 1965) — watch online on iFILM, a Japanese action drama starring Shintaro Katsu as the blind wandering masseur and master swordsman. Directed by Akira Inoue for Daiei studio, this installment finds Zatoichi passing through the village of his old teacher Hikonoichi. He expects a visit. What he finds is a murdered man and Hikonoichi's daughter Osayo locked in a brothel.
The corruption goes further up. The local strongman and the district governor have been falsifying tax records to drive farmers into debt, then collecting their daughters as payment. It's a machine running quietly in plain sight. What sets this entry apart from others in the 26-film franchise is the personal motive — Zatoichi isn't a stranger helping strangers this time.
