Synopsis

Black Eagle (1988) is a Cold War martial-arts actioner you can watch online on iFILM. Director Eric Karson pairs ninja-movie icon Sho Kosugi with a young Jean-Claude Van Damme, still a year out from his Bloodsport breakout.

An American fighter jet carrying a brand-new laser guidance system goes down off the coast of Malta — squarely in waters thick with Soviet operatives. The CIA dispatches its sharpest agent, code-named Black Eagle (Sho Kosugi), to recover the device before the KGB can grab it. To keep him on the leash, they install his two young sons in a nearby island hotel. What follows is a quiet war of surveillance, car chases and hand-to-hand fights against an enemy who can match the hero blow for blow.

The plot is really just an excuse to put two fighters on screen: Kosugi with his blades and Van Damme cracking skulls. It's a straightforward, no-frills B-movie, but the fight choreography is clean and lets the action do the talking — exactly what genre fans show up for. Stream Black Eagle (1988) online on iFILM.
