Synopsis

After burying her husband, lonely widow Joyce starts renting a room in her house for a little money and a little company. Her new tenant, a charming young man, turns out to look unsettlingly like the hero of her favorite romance novel. Joyce latches onto the fantasy and convinces herself a love story is unfolding. When that illusion begins to crack, the sweet old lady reveals just how far she'll go to keep "her" man from leaving.
The whole film rests on Shaye, whose Joyce is pitiful, tender and genuinely dangerous all at once. This isn't a jump-scare ride — it's a slow portrait of loneliness curdling into madness.
