Synopsis
The Oak Room (2020) is a Canadian thriller with a horror edge you can watch online on iFILM. A blizzard hammers a remote blue-collar town. A drifter walks back into the bar he grew up around and offers to clear an old debt with the bartender — by telling him a story.
The story has a false bottom. Steve spins a tale about another bar, another stranger, another snowed-in night, and the more he talks, the worse the pieces fit: mistaken identities, a double-cross, violence that lands where you least expect it. Director Cody Calahan nests one account inside another until listener and viewer alike stop knowing who to trust. RJ Mitte — Walt Jr. from Breaking Bad — and Peter Outerbridge anchor the small cast.
This is a tight 89-minute chamber piece, almost entirely set within four walls, where the tension rides on what's said rather than on chases.
