We Are from the Future

We Are from the Future (2008) is a Russian war-fantasy you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Andrei Malyukov. Four present-day treasure hunters loot a Second World War battlefield — until the ground itself pulls them back to 1942.

The men, nicknamed Borman, Skull, Chukha and Spirt, make their money digging up medals, orders, papers and German weapons to resell. It pays well. Then they spot their own photographs inside the paybooks of dead Red Army soldiers, take a swim in a forest lake, and surface in the middle of a brutal defensive battle, stripped of cash and ID. Danila Kozlovsky leads the cast, with Vladimir Yaglych and Ekaterina Klimova alongside him.

Malyukov skips the parade-ground heroics for a sharper idea: cynical scavengers dropped straight into the sacrifice they had been selling off piece by piece. By the final scene, the graves they robbed look very different. Stream We Are from the Future online on iFILM.
