Synopsis
The Dark Knight (2008) is Christopher Nolan's crime thriller, ready to watch online on iFILM. Gotham has nearly cleaned out the mob. Then a man in clown paint steps from the shadows, and every rule stops applying.
Behind the cowl, Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) squeezes organized crime alongside Lieutenant Gordon (Gary Oldman) and the city's new district attorney, Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), the man Gotham calls its White Knight. Cornered crime bosses hire a fixer and get the Joker (Heath Ledger) instead. He doesn't want money. He wants to prove that any decent person will crack into chaos under enough pressure. He robs, he bombs, and he forces ordinary citizens into choices where saving one life costs another. Batman has to catch a criminal with no rules using the one rule he won't break himself.
The role earned Heath Ledger a posthumous Academy Award; he died six months before the premiere. Nolan shot the major sequences on IMAX film and flipped a real semi-truck through downtown rather than faking it.
