Captain Miller

Captain Miller (2024) is a Tamil-language action film from director Arun Matheswaran — stream it online on iFILM. Set in 1930s India under British colonial rule, it stars Dhanush as a former soldier who turns the system he served against itself.

Analeesan, called "Eesa," spent years in the British Indian Army. He knows how colonial authority operates from the inside. Then he witnesses British soldiers commit an act of violence against civilians, and that knowledge shifts allegiance. He becomes Captain Miller — and starts a campaign of raids, ambushes, and calculated escapes aimed at bleeding British control rather than confronting it directly. Priyanka Arul Mohan and Shivaraj Kumar round out the cast.

At 158 minutes, the film earns its length. Matheswaran shoots it with a sun-bleached harshness that fits the moral temperature of the story. Dhanush refuses to make Miller easy to read — the character sits somewhere between outlaw and liberator, and the film does not push to resolve that ambiguity.
