The Sense of Wonder

The Sense of Wonder (Le Goût des merveilles, 2015) is a French romantic drama you can watch online on iFILM. Louise Legrand (Virginie Efira) is a widow raising two kids on a farm built around a pear orchard she once planted with her late husband. She refuses to let the land go, even as the debts close in.

One night she nearly runs a stranger down on a dark road. His name is Pierre, and though he's barely scratched, he clearly moves through life by his own unreadable rules — he flinches from touch, counts the tiles on the floor, says exactly what he thinks. Louise takes him home, and bit by bit this withdrawn man turns out to be the person she was missing, while she becomes one of the few who can reach him.
