Synopsis
Other People's Money (1991) is Norman Jewison's comedy-drama, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Lawrence Garfield, better known as Larry the Liquidator, buys up companies just to sell them off in pieces — and he's grown rich doing it.
His next target is an old family-run wire and cable plant in New England, run by eighty-year-old Andrew Jorgenson. To save the factory and its workers, the patriarch brings in a sharp young lawyer, Kate — and the courtroom fight soon curdles into an odd, crackling flirtation between the raider and the woman trying to stop him. Danny DeVito plays Larry with shameless charm, Gregory Peck is the stubborn old guard, and Penelope Ann Miller holds her own as Kate.
Adapted from Jerry Sterner's stage play, the film runs on long, sparring conversations about greed, loyalty and who really owns a company. Larry's closing speech to the shareholders is worth the ticket alone. Stream Other People's Money (1991) online on iFILM.
