Crystal City (Season 1)

Crystal City (Khrustalny, 2021) is a Russian crime thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Moscow investigator Sergei Smirnov has a reputation as one of the country's sharpest "maniac hunters," and a governor's personal request drags him back to the one place he swore off — Khrustalny, the town where he grew up.

Boys are vanishing and turning up dead, and the killer's method suggests someone who knows the town from the inside. For Sergei the case is anything but routine: his childhood happened here, and so did the memories he fled to the capital to forget. The investigation walks him down streets he knows by heart and back toward people he had written out of his life long ago. Anton Vasilyev leads, with Karina Razumovskaya, Daria Ekamasova, Nikolay Schreiber and Ekaterina Olkina alongside him.

Director Dušan Gligorov made less of a whodunit than a portrait of a grown man digging through the rubble of his own trauma. The mood stays grim, the small-town texture presses down, and the resolution lands harder than any chase could.
