Mental (Season 1)

Mental (Vne sebya, 2021) is a Russian crime series with a pitch-black comic streak that you can watch online on iFILM. After a blow to the head, financier Dmitry loses his memory and gains a problem instead: his ex-wife and her lover won't stop talking to him.

The catch is that both of them were found murdered in the same bed. Now the dead couple lives inside Dmitry's head, bickering, mocking him, and demanding one thing — that he track down their killer. He just wants a clean bill of mental health so he can win back custody of his son, but the harder he tries to silence the phantoms, the more solid they become, dragging him back into a past he'd rather forget. The further he digs, the less he trusts his own recollections.

Evgeny Stychkin leads the cast, with Elena Lyadova, Evgeny Tsyganov and Aglaya Tarasova alongside him. It's part murder mystery, part psychological thriller, part absurdist comedy — a homicide investigated by a man whose only witnesses exist in his mind.
