Synopsis
The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland (1999) is a Sesame Street family musical you can watch online on iFILM. Little red Elmo loves his worn blue blanket above everything else, and he refuses to share it with anyone. Then the blanket gets sucked down a swirling tunnel into Grouchland, the grimiest spot on earth.
To get it back, Elmo treks across a kingdom of grouches and towering trash heaps. Standing in his way is Huxley (Mandy Patinkin), a villain who hoards every object he can grab, and the Queen of Trash (Vanessa Williams), who turns up for a full song-and-dance number. Puppeteer Kevin Clash gives Elmo enough personality to carry the whole trip.
Directed by Gary Halvorson, the film turns a simple lesson about sharing into 73 minutes of songs and familiar faces, never wagging a finger at the kids. Best for preschoolers and the parents who grew up on the show. Stream The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland online on iFILM.
