Synopsis
Ghoul (2018) is an Indian horror series you can watch online on iFILM. The setting is a near-future, authoritarian India. Young interrogator Nida Rahim turns in her own father for owning banned books, certain she's on the right side. That certainty won't last long.
Nida (Radhika Apte) is posted to a hidden military detention center where suspected terrorists are broken for information. Then a new prisoner arrives — Ali Saeed — and the facility starts to come apart from the inside. He knows things he couldn't possibly know: buried sins, secret names, the guards' own crimes. It soon becomes clear the cell holds no man but a ghoul, a creature out of Arabic folklore that feeds on guilt. Across three tight episodes, the prison becomes a trap with no exit for captives or captors alike.
Written and directed by Patrick Graham and produced by Blumhouse with Phantom Films, the show trades song-and-dance spectacle for dread and claustrophobia. At heart it's less about the monster than about a state that manufactures its own. Sharp, short and underrated, it's a treat for fans of intelligent horror.
