The Looming Storm

The Looming Storm (暴雪将至, 2017) is a Chinese neo-noir you can watch online on iFILM. Director Dong Yue's debut feature is set in a snow-blanketed 1990s industrial city where women are being killed and the official investigation is going nowhere.

Yu Guowei is a factory security guard who decides he can do better. He inserts himself into the case — persistently, almost obsessively. Duan Yihong plays Yu with a coiled certainty that picked up Best Actor at the San Sebastián International Film Festival.
