All We Had

"All We Had" (2016) — watch online on iFILM. Katie Holmes directs and stars in this adaptation of Annie Weatherwax's novel, following Rita and her teenage daughter Ruthie as they drift through poverty, moving from town to town, making bad decisions and barely staying afloat.

When the car finally dies on a highway shoulder and money runs out, they end up stranded in a small town that was not on anyone's itinerary. Stefania LaVie Owen plays Ruthie, with Luke Wilson and Judy Greer rounding out the cast. Holmes strips the story of easy consolations — this is about what survival costs, not what it saves.
