Zuleikha Opens Her Eyes (2020) is a Russian period drama you can watch online on iFILM. In the winter of 1930, Soviet soldiers arrive in a small Tatar village: Zuleikha's husband is shot on the spot, and she is loaded onto a freight train heading east — to a remote labour settlement on the Angara River deep in the Siberian taiga.
The camp is harsh, and many in her group do not survive the first winter. Zuleikha, played by Chulpan Khamatova, endures and slowly gets to know the people fate has thrown together with her: a scatterbrained doctor, an artist working in stolen minutes, and Ignatov — the same officer who killed her husband. The ensemble includes Yulia Peresild, Roman Madyanov, Sergei Makovetskey and Alexander Bashirov, directed by Yegor Anashkin.
