Synopsis

Joan married young to escape a difficult home — and walked straight into another trap. Then one impulsive moment in the jewellery shop where she works throws her into a different life entirely: disguises, stolen gems, always a step ahead of the police, and all while raising a daughter alone. Frank Dillane plays the man who enters her orbit at exactly the wrong time.
The series follows the real Joan Hannington, who became one of Britain's most elusive jewellery thieves in the 1980s. Laxton keeps the focus on the person rather than the crimes — and Turner, shedding the Sansa Stark image entirely here, makes Joan compelling even when she's making the worst possible choices.
