"McMillion$" (2020) is an HBO documentary series you can watch online on iFILM. Directed by Brian Lazarte and James Lee Hernandez, it reconstructs the McDonald's Monopoly scam — one of the most elaborate fraud cases in American corporate history.

For nearly a decade in the 1990s, McDonald's ran its Monopoly promotion with cash prizes up to a million dollars. The winning game pieces were supposed to be random. They weren't. The company's security officer had been lifting the winning stickers and passing them to a network of associates scattered across the country. Only an anonymous tip finally brought the FBI in — by then the total take was somewhere around $24 million.

The series builds its case through interviews with FBI agents, defense lawyers, McDonald's management, and the fake "winners" who had no idea where their prize really came from. Executive producer Mark Wahlberg brought the project to HBO. The fraud turns out stranger and funnier than any scripted heist — because it actually happened.
