Synopsis
Blind Beast (盲獣, 1969) — watch online on iFILM, a Japanese thriller directed by Yasuzo Masumura. A blind sculptor abducts an artist's model and takes her to his warehouse studio — a vast space packed with enormous plaster sculptures of fragmented female body parts. He cannot see the world. He has rebuilt it from touch.
The model searches for escape at first. Darkness and isolation do their work. Masumura adapted the story from Rampo Edogawa, a founding figure of Japanese detective fiction. The film has exceeded its genre origins entirely: critics trace the lineage of Japanese body horror back through it, and its handling of space, colour, and tactile obsession aligns it with avant-garde cinema rather than exploitation. It carries an NC-17 rating in the United States. Stream Blind Beast (1969) online on iFILM.
