Synopsis
The Rule of Jenny Pen (2025) is a New Zealand horror thriller from director James Ashcroft, ready to watch online on iFILM. A domineering retired judge suffers a stroke and ends up in a rest home, locked inside a body that no longer obeys him.
In the quiet facility, real power belongs to another resident — a seemingly genial old man who wears a child's puppet, Jenny Pen, on one hand. At night he roams the wards and torments the helpless patients while the staff notice nothing. The judge is the only one who sees through the act, but who believes a paralyzed old man? Geoffrey Rush plays the tyrant with the doll hand, John Lithgow the proud wreck of a man fighting his own terror, and their duel carries the whole picture.
Ashcroft adapted an Owen Marshall short story and turned a care home into a torture chamber where defenselessness is scarier than any monster. It's for anyone who likes psychological horror built on two great actors — no cheap jump scares, just a steady chill down the spine. Stream The Rule of Jenny Pen (2025) online on iFILM.
